The 11th Red Rocks Cultural Festival, from 25 August to 1 September, takes place in Nyakinama, Rwanda, close to the Volcanic National Park.
Organized by Red Rocks Initiative for Sustainable Development, the festival’s theme is „Linking Arts, Culture, and Conservation“.
The festival is a way for communities to celebrate their cultural expressions and keep them visible to society and younger generations while bringing economic value to the host communities.
The event includes traditional music and dance, artwork exhibitions, cultural practices (Gutsya, Kwenga, Kuboha, etc.), and environmental conservation debates.
A highlight is the Red Rocks evening Twataramye, where traditional songs, riddles, folk stories, and proverbs are shared.
This annual celebration seeks to engage the community and emphasize the community’s conservation role.
